Sydney computer repairs--Tips for motherboard repairs

Lastest Question and Answer:

"No Boot Device Available" with brand new hard drive.?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

I recently got a dysfunctional computer from a friend claiming the board had problems. He had obviously taken the hard drive before giving it to me since prices are skyrocketing for them. So I bought a new one and correctly put it in the computer. CD boot is number one on the sequence and it always gives me the no boot device available message. Is there any other possibilities other than that the motherboard is not working properly? Also, can anyone actually give me some specifics to look at? I feel like investigating the problem as opposed to simply saying “oh well, this doesn’t work” and go buy a new board. Thank you for your time.
So few things, first start fresh, remove the cmos battery from the board and change the jumper to clear the memory (motherboard man

Why does my computer turn on after I shut it down?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

Okay so here's how this whole problem started. Last week my power supply blew out. I left my PC on for 12 hours; I should've turned it off when i wasn't using it. I was really busy that day so I left my PC on and forgot to put it on sleep mode or shut it down. That night I went on to play a game; I only played it for about 25 minutes. On those 25 minutes of game play, my computer shuts down. I pressed my power button multiple times, I knew something was wrong, so I took out the PSU and opened it. (Btw just in case you're wondering, I've built this PC) I opened my PSU and I saw this chalk-Like substance coming out. Next thing I see this thing that looks like a Magnet broken in two, so now I have confirmed that this thing was pretty much dead. I got a new PSU on M

Computer randomly freezes and shuts down after sli-ing and case switch?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

I recently got a new case and another gtx 470 for my desktop computer. I installed both at the same time so I took all components from my old case and put them into a new case in one foul swoop so i have no real way of knowing which caused this problem. Anyway the pc works fine and gpus are exceptionally cool (idling around 45 and using fan control they stay around 70 in battlefield 3) But now I will be playing a game and it randomly freezes up the game and computer requiring me to manually power down the pc, it sometimes restarts the pc out right. This happens in multiple games which leads me to believe it has nothing to do with the game. I just recently de fragged my registry and ran a Kaspersky full scan of my pc coming back with no threats. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatl

Do I have a hard drive failure or is it something else?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

well my old computer stopped working think the motherbored died or cpu but i built a new computer and used the hard drive from it. So when I go to boot windows 7 with my new build i get to the windows 7 loading screen then the monitor goes blank and says no signal and my computer restarts itself.
you can not put any hard drive into any old or new machine and expect it to work, it is a bit like sticking an engine in a car, it needs the right connections in the right places to be able to work properly.
The install of Windows on a hard drive is specific to the hardware that was used when the operating system was installed. If you move the drive to a new hardware platform, the operating system that was on the disk isn't going to know what to do with the new hardware. Your d

Build a gaming/workstation rig for about $600?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

I'm 16 and I want to build my first rig. I have a vague idea where to start, and am computer literate, but by no means an expert. I could probably put it together myself, but as far as picking out the actual parts, I have no idea where to begin. I use photoshop for my graphic design class, and do LOTS of multitasking: I'm talking iTunes, microsoft word, google chrome, and photoshop open at once. I'd also like to record guitar covers, so a sound card would be nice. I would also like to run battlefield 3 at around medium settings. My thoughts:
CPU: intel core i5 2500K

for 650 you might have to shoot to the amd side…..

Simple Computer Problem, Please Help!?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

I have a Dell Dimension E510 tower. I'm pretty sure it was taken apart for cleaning and just not put together right. But the power button on the front lites up and the light on the motherboard is on. It beeps several times but the monitor reads, "No Signal". I have connected it to several monitors and still no success. Helppp
Check the back of the tower for an added PCI slot adapter. In this case, a video card. Or, an SCSI card. Once one or both of these are installed the factory video card or monitor jack that came with the machine originally is disabled. Try hooking up your monitor to to the adapter at the bottom of the tower that has the same size connector. This worked for me when I once had the same thing happen. You might have another issue.

Performing automatic IDE configuration…?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A01
It seems to be indicating the Diskette Drive is the problem. I would make sure your Hard Drive IDE cable is connected to the lowest-numbered IDE port, if you look closely at your motherboard there should be small labels next to the IDE ports saying "IDE 1", "IDE 2", etc. You may have an "IDE 0", which is lowest, obviously.
In the BIOS, there should be an option, to disable "Floppy Seek".
This is a problem that happened a lot way back in the 486 days, most properly your CMOS has not got the hard drive in its list, if it is a large hard drive, partition it in two, that should work, update your Bios / CMOS.

I changed the power supply on my pc but I still get the orange light?-The best Sydney computer repair shop special discussion

when I try to ower up my pc, I get the steady orange light on the power botton. The light on my motherboard is working and I also replaced the power supply. What else could be the problem?
sounds like you have a bad motherboard to me. If every thing is hooked up correctly and you have a new psu more than likely one of the power sockets on the mother board is bad or you have a bad resister on the board.
So?
Older pc's when a orange light is shown putting it in stand by,reset the connectors on the hdd , reset the cmos battery and see if the pc will power up ,if don't thenthe motherboard is bad.
it seems your motherboard is defective.
